Frederic B. Kremer, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist recognized for the invention of several widely utilized surgical tools, including the ultrasound device used to measure corneas and the pivoting microkeratome (for making corneal flaps) and the development of other surgical techniques. He serves as Director of Kremer Laser Eye Surgery Centers, located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Among his achievements is the development of the first excimer laser in the world to receive FDA approval for LASIK.

Dr. Kremer received an electrical engineering degree (BSEE) from Drexel University. He then earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University and Wills Eye Hospital. He has lectured and published extensively. He is a member of numerous professional societies, President of the Society for Excellence in Eyecare and was Executive Medical Editor of the journal, Review of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Kremer was one of the first 10 ophthalmologists to perform refractive eye surgery in this country. He performed the first LASIK procedure in North America and has since completed thousands of these procedures. Dr. Kremer has served as Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania, and was also affiliated with Thomas Jefferson and Wills Eye Hospital.
